Call for host institution: South Asia regional heat action hub
Published: May 5, 2025
The Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN) is seeking motivated institutions interested in hosting a new regional Network hub in South Asia. The regional hub will advance efforts to mitigate the growing risks of extreme heat.
Deadline: 6 June 2025

About the Network
GHHIN is a global network of experts and institutions dedicated to protecting populations from extreme heat risks through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and evidence-based interventions. With the launch of its first regional hub in Southeast Asia in 2024, the Network now aims to establish additional hubs and is starting with South Asia in 2025 to accelerate heat action in that region.
What is a Regional Hub?
Regional hubs:
- Convene and engage diverse institutions and experts from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector
- Facilitate knowledge exchange and best practices among stakeholders
- Drive policy change and practical interventions
- Strengthen local capacity to manage extreme heat risks
Support for Regional Hubs
Selected hubs will receive:
- Funding for 36 months (2025-2028)
- Technical assistance and mentorship from global experts
- Visibility through GHHIN’s platforms and events
- Opportunities to engage in international collaboration and learning exchanges
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include:
- Registered legal entities (e.g., universities, NGOs, government bodies)
- Institutions able to engage stakeholders from at least four countries in their region
- Consortiums of institutions are encouraged, with defined leadership roles
How to Apply
The application includes a two-step process:
- Interested institutions should submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) by 6 June 2025 in response to the UNGM posting ‘Accelerating Action for Extreme Heat and Health – Establishment of Regional Heat Health Hub in South Asia’ (Reference EOI/02/HPN/2025) in the form of a 20-page PDF document that outlines their suitability and vision for hosting a regional hub. Submissions will be reviewed based on their alignment with the selection criteria, technical expertise, regional collaboration potential, and proposed sustainability plans.
- Shortlisted institutions will be provided feedback and invited to submit a full proposal, which will further elaborate on the governance structure, implementation strategy, and sustainability plan for the hub.
