Chief of Disaster Risk Reduction
Sanjay Srivastava is the Chief of Disaster Risk Reduction at UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). In this role, he leads and guides analytical scientific and policy research on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation that feeds into the UN intergovernmental meetings, negotiations, and agreements.
His main focuses are on promoting (a) adaptation and resilience pathways to climate action, (b) policy actions to avert, minimize and address loss and damage induced by climate change; (b) regional cooperation mechanisms for strengthening disaster risk management and resilience building; and (c) integrated multi-hazard risk assessment, preparedness, early warning, and response to disaster risks.
