Extreme Heat Events Guidelines: Technical Guide for Health Care Workers
Organization: Water, Air and Climate Change Bureau, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch & Health Canada
Year: 2011
The Guidelines are designed to provide a broad overview for health care workers and to facilitate linkages on common concerns and solutions regarding extreme heat. The Technical Guide provides current national and international research in a format designed to promote translation of global imperatives into evidence-based adaptations. The targeted Fact Sheets are each one double-sided page intended to be both brief and sufficient for most busy health care providers. These Fact Sheets groupings were developed to address the needs of several disciplines within each topic. The User Guide was developed as a synthesis of the key actions for organizations and institutions to take when promoting adaptation. Together, this suite of products was developed and designed to meet the various needs of health care workers in both addressing and preventing heat illnesses through education and health promotion.
