As the sun beats down relentlessly, we find ourselves grappling with a pressing challenge: the heatwave. In recent years, the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events have risen, posing significant risks to the health, well-being, and livelihoods of our community. In response to this growing threat, we present the Heatwave Action Plan—a comprehensive strategy crafted to enhance resilience, mitigate risks, and foster adaptation in the face of extreme heat. This action plan is the culmination of extensive research, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. We have drawn upon scientific expertise, local knowledge, and global best practices to develop a framework that addresses the multifaceted dimensions of the heatwave phenomenon. From the identification of heat-vulnerable populations to the implementation of early warning systems, each component of this plan is meticulously designed to protect the most vulnerable among us and build a more resilient community. Central to our approach is a commitment to inclusivity and equity. We recognize that the impacts of the heatwave are not evenly distributed, with marginalized communities often bearing the brunt of its effects.
