URISA Webinar: GIS Workflows for Urban Heat Mapping
Organization: URISA
Year: 2024
Hosted by URISA’s Climate & Community Resilience Committee, this webinar introduces simple GIS workflows for identifying and analyzing urban extreme heat. Where does extreme heat occur, how does tree cover affect heat, and who are the vulnerable populations affected? This is the first step in a medium-term project to train university students, GIS professionals and urban planners/designers (both key stakeholders in a city) in a set of simple, consistent heat index mapping workflows. Here we introduce the topic, examples of the workflows, data sources, and invite you to join us in future online and face-to-face workshops. Speakers: Michael Gould, PhD., Esri Education Manager and professor at University Jaume I (Spain) Joseph Kerski, PhD., GISP, Esri Education Manager and instructor at U. Minnesota. Moderator: Teresa Townsend, AICP, Chief Executive Officer, Planning Communities
