Global Heat Health Information Network announces 2024 Management Committee

The Global Heat Health Information Network Management Committee has welcomed five new expert members. These experts, who represent a range of disciplines, will contribute to the Network’s efforts to protect populations from the avoidable health risks of extreme heat in our changing climate:
- Roxy Koll, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology
- Swathi Manchikanti, UNICEF
- Caradee Wright, South African Medical Research Council
- Will Lang, UK Met Office
- Francisco Chesini, Argentina Ministry of Health
“As our Network continues to evolve, it’s increasingly important to include experts from a wide range of fields and backgrounds in shaping our activities and future direction” said Joy Shumake-Guillemot, Network co-coordinator and lead of the WHO/WMO Joint Office for Climate and Health, “Our Management Committee members are selected for their unique knowledge and skills in order to help advance our efforts to address global heat health challenges. Together, we are working to leverage the best available science and services and collaborative action to protect vulnerable communities and promote resilience to extreme heat in the face of climate change.”
Ending their tenure on the Management Committee are:

- Rupa Kumar Kolli, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology

- Virginia Murray, UK Health Security Agency
- Hannah Nissan, Wilson Towers Watson
- Emer O’Connell, Greater London Authority
‘It has been my privilege to serve on the Management Committee of the GHHIN, supporting the network as it grew from a handful of passionate experts to a resource for practitioners and policy makers around the world.” said departing member Emer O’Connell of the Greater London Authority, “I am especially proud of our work on heat and COVID-19 where the network was uniquely positioned to provide high quality expert advice due to the diverse skills across the collaboration.”
The Network extends its appreciation to those stepping down and into new roles in 2024 for their years of service and many contributions.
